Very useful regulation history diagram.  In addition to providing important knowledge, it exemplifies two major aspects of current cell therapy commercialization.  1) "Cell therapy", to date, is tissue stem cell therapy. (Given the need for stem cell-targeting for stable gene therapy, "gene therapy" is just a special modality of tissue stem cell therapy.)  2) Most of the "advances in cell therapy commercialization" are really just developments in routine drug development regulation and commercialization.

The earlier discussion by RMN Cell Therapy Spotlight regarding the need for a break with conventional drug development principles, with establishment of principles and practices better suited to the special aspects and idiosyncratic features of stem cell therapy, to achieve accelerate progress is stem cell therapy is amplified by this history, which is mostly not focused on the needs of cell therapy development.

It would be informative to consider how advances (and unmet challenges) in tissue stem cell science layer onto the presented historical narrative.
