The Special Focus Issue is entitled “Immunological challenges and opportunities in regenerative medicine” and was guest edited by Professor Paul Fairchild from the University of Oxford.

This issue includes an array of great articles, including a Perspective by Paul, an Interview by Francesco Dazzi and an organizational profile on the new UKRMP's "immunomodulation hub".

The free to access Editorial is "The issue of immunology in stem cell therapies: a pharmaceutical perspective” which was written by Richard Haworth and Michaela Sharpe. The issue includes an article by a number of collaborating authors including Sir Ian Wilmut and Professor Shynia Yamanaka focusing on proposals for the generation of a global haplobank of GMP-compliant induced pluripotent stem cell lines to facilitate matching between donor and recipient.
