Hitachi Chemical Advanced Therapeutic Solutions (Tokyo, Japan) has agreed to buy Apceth Biopharma (Germany), a contract development and manufacturing organization, as part of an ongoing expansion plan. The deal is worth approximately US$86 million and will provide Hitachi with expanded manufacturing facilities as well as an established sales network. Expansion into Europe will consolidate Hitachi's existing expertise in the US and Japanese regulatory systems, with the aim of better supporting global customers operating in multiple markets.

The transaction is expected to close in April.
