Extensive DNA methylation and gene expression changes occur during fetal skin development following the decline of scarless healing after day 15 of gestation. Therefore, this Epigenomics Research Article by Justyna Podolak-Popinigis, Anna Ronowicz, Monika Dmochowska, Agnieszka Jakubiak and Paweł Sachadyn from Gdańsk University of Technology (Poland) investigated the DNA methylation changes in the in mouse fetus dorsal skin in the period before and after the scarless healing capacity is lost in order to identify new candidate genes involved in the process.
