3D nanoprinting the neural network: €3.3 million funding for MESO-BRAIN Initiative

Written by Alexandra Thompson

The multinational MESO-BRAIN Initiative has received €3.3 million of funding from the European Commission to realistically replicate the neural networks of the brain using 3D nanoprinting, in order to model neural development and disease progression, and for drug and toxicity testing. The MESO-BRAIN consortium is an initiative launching in September this year and expected to take 3 years aiming to accelerate progress in photonics, neuroscience and medicine, through the development of iPSC-derived neural networks upon a defined and reproducible 3D scaffold. The 3D bioprinted network will allow researchers to realistically model the human brain and therefore improve understanding and treatment...
