3D printed plastic tubular scaffolds could have potential for use in the body

University College London (UK) researchers have used 3D printing to produce tubular structures that allow growth and proliferation of cells. A research team led by Achala de Mel (University College London, London, UK) has used fused deposition modelling to 3D print various plastic tubular structures which can be used to culture cell. The results of the study were published in the journal npj Regenerative Medicine.  Custom-made thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) was used in the study due to its malleable and elastic qualities.
