Closed, automated wash and concentration of expanded human natural killer (NK) cells

Limited efficiency in cell processing is a major bottleneck in the commercial-scale production of cell-based therapies. Moving to more closed, automated protocols will reduce human error and contamination risk, and enable multiple processes to be run in parallel. However, many current systems are inefficient at low volumes, making effective, early-stage process development prohibitively expensive. A low-volume cell processing system with easily customizable and programmable steps would enable optimization of many steps in small-batch cell therapy manufacturing, including CAR-T cell processing workflow, including isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells, cell washing, and concentration of engineered CAR-T cells.
