1 – 3D-printed valves to assist noninvasive ventilation procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic: a case study
This research article explores how valves produced by selective laser sintering additive manufacturing can be used with full-face snorkeling masks for noninvasive ventilation during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the final model assembly not presenting any air leakage, masks with these valves could present a feasible equivalent to N95 masks to support healthcare systems during the COVID-19 pandemic and future pandemics.

2 – Maturation of in situ bioprinting
Therapies involving tissue building and more specifically in situ bioprinting, or printing tissues directly into the body, are elucidated upon in this commentary article. Unlike in vivo or ex vivo therapies, in situ bioprinting therapies would print tissue directly at the site of repair, and has been an emerging therapy in recent years.

3 – 3D bioprinted alginate-based biomaterials for bone tissue engineering
In this editorial on bone tissue bioengineering, synthetic alginate grafts are explored as an alternative for the development of 3D synthetic bone tissue in repairing and replacing diseased tissues. Tissue engineering using 3D bioprinted alginate can provide a structure onto which native tissue is supported.
