Over the last several decades, 3D printing technology, which encompasses many different fabrication techniques, had emerged as a promising tool in many fields of production, including the pharmaceutical industry. Specifically, 3D printing may be advantageous for drug delivery systems, systems aiming to improve the pharmacokinetics of drugs. These advantages include the ease of designing complex shapes, printing of drugs on demand, tailoring dosage to the specific needs of the patient and enhancing the bioavailability of drugs.
