StemFit formulation enables differentiation of human stem cells in the lab

AMSBIO (Abingdon, UK) recently announced the development of StemFit® for Differentiation. This novel supplement is a chemically defined formulation that promotes the differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem (hiPS) and embryonic stem cells to multiple lineages, and can therefore be used to support clinical research applications of hiPSC-derived tissues.

The composition of the product minimizes lot-to-lot variation, and is free of animal- and human-derived components, which means it can be used to reduce the risk of immunogenic contamination.

StemFit® is supplied as a 5X concentrate, and has been formulated for use with basel cell culture medium and a variety of induction factors or cytokines.

Its use in the lab will enable researchers to undertake clinical applications involving the expansion and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cell-derived cells and tissues. These applications so far include lineage specific differentiation as well as spontaneous differentiation of hiPSCs to organoids via embryoid body formation.
