3D printing at the atomic level
Scientists from a European consortium have announced the start of a project to demonstrate the potential for 'atomic-layer 3D printing'. A collaborative team of scientists and engineers from Friedrich–Alexander University Erlangen–Nürnberg (Germany), ATLANT 3D Nanosystems (Lyngby, Denmark), Femtika (Vilnius, Lithuania) and SEMPA Systems (Dresden, Germany) has announced the start of a project to demonstrate the potential for 'atomic-layer 3D printing', or the generation of arbitrary shapes with a vertical resolution in the order of one atom.
