Cardiac 3D models as a pre-emptive tool against paravalvular leaks

CT scans combined with 3D modelling of aortic roots and valves show promise in the identification of paravalvular leaks following transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a procedure used to treat intermediate, high-risk and inoperable patients who have experienced severe narrowing of the aortic valve. TAVR involves the implantation of a prosthetic aortic valve, replacing the damaged valve.
