Custom 3D printed boluses improve cancer radiotherapy

3D printed molds will be utilized to direct radiation during the treatment of cancer patients at Banner Health North Colorado Medical Center. A team led by Alexander Markovic, Medical Physics Program Director, Radiation Oncology, North Colorado Medical Center (CO, USA), have utilized 3D printing to create custom boluses for use in treating cancer patients utilizing radiotherapy. A bolus is used during radiotherapy to maximize a patient's radiation dose, allowing it to reach the tissues below the skin.
