Swansea surgeons utilize 3D printed guides and supportive “cradle” in jaw reconstruction in world first

Welsh surgeons have utilized 3D printed implants and guides to rebuild a patient's jaw after tumor damage. In a world first, scientists at Morriston Hospital (Wales, UK) have rebuilt a patient's jaw after damage caused by a tumor by utilizing a 3D printed titanium implant and 3D printed cutting guides. In the procedure, published in the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a 3D printing titanium implant combined with a section of the patient's fibula retained the aesthetic shape of the patient's jaw.
