Team bioprints robots from muscle and skeletal tissue
The team claims that the biorobots could be capable of real-time bio-sensing, self-organization, adaptability and self-healing, thus offering many more capabilities for mover and performance than existing systems based on artificial materials. The designs for an innovative type of 'biorobots' have been published in Advanced Materials Technologies', describing the process of 3D bioprinting the biorobots from biological elements, such as muscle tissue. Researchers at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC; Barcelona, Spain) claim that the biorobots could be capable of real-time bio-sensing, self-organization, adaptability and self-healing, thus offering many more capabilities for mover and performance than existing systems based...
