3D-printed solutions for complex pediatric challenges

In this interview, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Juling Ong (Great Ormond Street Hospital; London, UK) discusses the use of 3D-printed models for the rehearsal of complex surgical cases involving children, focusing on the success of the recent separation of craniopagus twins, Safa and Marwa.

Biography

Juling Ong is a Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgeon. He trained in Plastic surgery in London (UK) and passed the FRCS(Plastics) examinations in 2012. In 2013 he was awarded the Ellison-Cliffe Travelling Fellowship by the Royal Society of Medicine to undertake a 12-month American Council of Graduate Medical Education accredited fellowship, obtaining a Diploma from the University of Texas in Austin (TX, USA) in Craniofacial, Cleft and Pediatric Plastic Surgery in 2014. He entered onto the General Medical Council Specialist register in 2015, and in 2016 became fully registered as a specialist in plastic surgery with the National Specialist Register of Malaysia, where he is a visiting surgeon to Island Hospital in Penang (George Town, Malaysia).
