Surgeons at Harvard Medical School have demonstrated that models produced on a domestic 3D printer were useful, convenient and highly cost-effective adjuncts in preoperative planning. In a study published recently in the Journal of Reconstructive Surgery, surgeons from Harvard Medical School (MA, USA) have demonstrated that the expensive outsourcing of preoperative planning aids could be avoided by utilizing a domestic 3D printer in house.
